BBC Studios and Post Production Launches New Ingest Technology

February 2010: Working closely with BBC Research & Development, BBC Studios and Post Production is now deploying the new, award winning, multi-camera ingest technology Ingex for a number of its customers.

In enabling HD tapeless content acquisition in multi-formats, Ingex which was created by BBC Research & Development will deliver greater efficiency and cost savings both in tape stock and time. The need to digitise is removed and material can be logged simultaneously at the point of capture, enabling quicker and more integrated workflows.

Ingex is an open source product and over the last eighteen months, BBC Studios and Post Production and BBC Research & Development have been carrying out trials for key productions whilst feeding back the learning into the wider open source community.

As an Ingex partner, BBC Studios and Post Production can provide services and support, either integrated into a full post production offering with a complete facility build, or as a stand alone product.  It already has commitments to two large shows – a multi-year contract deal with the fast turnaround drama EastEnders, and providing a stand alone service to BBC Two’s highly acclaimed Dragons' Den. BBC Studios and Post Production is also working with a number of other interested parties, including independent production companies and media organisations who are keen to explore how Ingex can benefit their workflows.

Ingex is part of portfolio of products and services offered through BBC Studios and Post Production’s ‘Media Solutions’ brand, which provides a range of specialist media management and consultancy services.
