Ready Steady Cook goes HD at Television Centre
September 2009: BBC Studios and Post Production is temporarily upgrading its Studio Two to HD at Television Centre, to support the 21st series of Ready Steady Cook, made by Cheetah Television, an Endemol company for BBC Two.
This is the first time that Ready Steady Cook has been commissioned in HD and it joins a raft of entertainment shows being made in HD at Television Centre this autumn, which include Later with Jools and Eggheads for 12 Yard, as well as Strictly Come Dancing, which last year attracted 13 million viewers at its peak.
BBC Studios and Post Production is the largest HD studio provider in the UK, with three HD studios, including Studio One, the UK’s largest HD studio at 10,000 square foot. In September all of its HD studios are being utilised, with the Strictly Come Dancing being recorded in Studio One, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in Studio Four and Coming of Age in Studio 8, the Studios team is temporarily upgrading its Studio Two facility to HD, to support Ready Steady Cook.
Six Sony 1500 HD cameras complete with large lens adaptors and a Sony MVS8000 vision mixer are being hired from Presteigne Charter, along with the recently installed Calrec Omega digital audio console to make the show.
The 35 x 45-minute series, which sees talented chefs battle it out against the clock, creating delicious dishes in 20 minutes, will be presented by Ainsley Harriott, with Annette Clarke as executive producer and Jeremy Cross as series producer. Lindsay Bradbury is the executive producer for the BBC.
They are being recorded over three weeks in August and September.
Executive producer Annette Clarke says: "We're delighted to be making the 21st series in HD at BBC Television Centre and are looking forward to serving another helping of entertaining programming and cooking up some great recipes".
