Your Country Needs You - BBC Post Production supports Eurovision

December 2008: BBC Post Production is supporting BBC One’s Your Country Needs You which will find the act to represent the UK in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow in May. Entrants were scrutinised by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a team of music industry professionals who have picked and mixed the artists in order to put together a shortlist of six acts, who will appear on Your Country Needs You.

BBC Post Production is post producing a 60 minute launch show and is providing all the VT inserts for the four live shows recorded at BBC Studios at Television Centre. At the live shows, the UK public will have the chance to choose the act that will perform Andrew Lloyd Webber's specially composed song in Moscow 2009.

The Eurovision Song Contest has been broadcast every year since 1956, making it one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. The Your Country Needs You launch show draws on a wealth of archive footage to showcase the memorable performances and costumes over the years and features good luck messages to Andrew Lloyd Webber from celebrities. It is being offline edited on Avid Adrenaline and then online edited by Nial Brown on Avid Nitris. The VT inserts for the live studio shows will be post produced in BBC Post Production’s Entertainment Village on the fourth floor of Television Centre.

The BBC Post Production team has supported a raft of successful prime time entertainment programmes, including, Strictly Come Dancing, It Takes Two, I’d Do Anything, Any Dream Will Do and Last Choir Standing.

Your Country Needs You launch show will transmit in early January 2009.
